Candace Saunders is half of the husband/wife team at California-based Saunders Electric, which was founded in 1982 and acquired Paul R. Gilbert Electric in 1989. Gilbert had powered every live broadcast of the Academy Awards since the first in 1953.

In 1993, Saunders Electric developed the first synchronous load command system in collaboration with Young Generators and in 1995, received an Engineering Emmy for changing the way live broadcast shows were powered. Saunders joined Saunders Electric as CFO in 1995. In 2013, the company expanded operations and opened Saunders Electric in Nashville, with Saunders as president. On October 26, Saunders Electric received its second Engineering Emmy and Saunders Electric received its first.
